Satahtenikonarak-FASD-HIV/AIDS-Healthy Sexuality

KSCS Prevention based initiative whose primary goals are to provide information and education to individuals and community organizations, by providing trainings and support regarding fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), healthy sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and suicide awareness.

Support Counseling

One on one counseling

Individual counseling offered to clients where by a service plan is developed to offer support to various individual issues. Some areas: stress management, depression, anxiety, self esteem etc. Support can be given through traditional approaches as well as more contemporary delivery methods

Crisis Intervention

To support individual with support of listening, talking, sharing immediate issues. Able to respond to crisis immediately in the community

Couple and Family Counseling

To provide counseling services to couples and their families. To provide a safe and comfortable environment for Kahnawa’kehró:non.

Anger management

Individual anger management sessions provided to help support and provide guidance to individuals. In collaboration with Support services, is provided as individual need or group basis (as needed).

Parenting

Prenatal Workshops This parenting component provides and promotes programs and services which will enhance parenting skills for Kahnawa’kehró:non mothers and fathers. Parenting Teens Workshop This workshop will provide skills and tools to parents on a weekly basis. Delivered by parenting workers. Parent-Infant Interactive Workshops These workshops promote parent-child interaction through activities that stimulate development and build self-esteem as well as; it will generate parent-discussions, baby massage, presentations, parent-child exercise, snack time, tenderness time, arts and crafts, and singing songs are some of the planned activities. Nobody’s Perfect This six to eight week program is for parents with children 0-6 years old. A series of booklets are provided for parents. This program offers interactive and experiential learning exercise, and fun activities.

Traditional Services

Each individual is assessed and an individual service plan is developed with the individual and worker together. Meals on Wheels

A community based service provided to all elderly Kahnawa’kehró:non who may need nutritional meals.

Elders Caseworker

Elders’ Case Workers provide casework; care planning and service delivery to the elderly population of Kahnawake with social issues.

Adult and Elders Services Counsellor

The Adults and Elders’ Services Counsellor offers information and liaison services for:

  • income security programs
  • disabilities
  • civil status
  • estate planning and management

and provides Commissioner of Oaths and other services as required.
