PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WAIT LIST TO ACCESS MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Kahnawake – March 18, 2021 - Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services (KSCS) wishes to inform the community that due to the large volume of requests for mental health services, we are currently operating on a wait list system. We have implemented a triage system whereby the individuals on the wait list receive weekly check-ins to assess and prioritize their current situation. In addition, they are encouraged to reach out to us, 24 hrs. per day if their situation changes.
Services such as our After-Hours Response (contact through Kahnawake Peacekeepers 450-632-6505) and the Let’s Talk Initiative (Mondays 5:00-8:00 p.m. call or text service 514-235-9607) continue to be available for individuals who need someone to talk to until they can be connected to a counselor, more long term.
We encourage community members to follow our Facebook page to stay up-to-date on current programs and services available, along with information on external resources. In situations where a more focused and individualized approach is needed, please continue to contact KSCS at 450-632-6880.
At KSCS we pride ourselves on delivering professional, efficient, and high-quality care and services to the community and we take our role very seriously.
We are actively recruiting interested and qualified individuals to provide mental health services, and we are hopeful that the use of a wait list will be resolved in the foreseeable future.
We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
