Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services hosts Tehontatró:ris every month to hear ideas, to share information and knowledge that is pertinent to the community’s health and well being. We would like to invite you to join us this month for:

Aging and Memory

Objectives

  • To focus on different types of memories, how they are formed, and why some memories decline as we age;
  • Signs for early symptoms in dementia & what we can do to prevent them;
  • Different types of dementias will also be discussed.

Presenter: Dr. Dolly Dastoor, PhD, Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill Centre for Studies in Aging.
Dr. Dastoor is Co-Director of the Program in Dementia with Psychiatric Co-Morbidity at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute in Verdun. She is an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry, McGill University and Chair of the Education Committee, McGill Centre for Studies in Aging. She specializes in the assessment of dementia, especially Alzheimer’s, and has developed an assessment tool for the prognosis of the disease. Dolly was past President of the Alzheimer’s Society of Montreal from 1986-1991.
