Substance Dependence and Treatment Approaches

Objectives:

• to define substance dependence and explore treatment options.
• Briefly go over the diagnosis criteria for substance dependence and substance abuse.
• Focus on all aspects of addiction to Benzodiazepine (an anxiolytic), including the biological and psychological symptoms, and the treatment approaches.

The Hungry Heart: A documentary film

This is a documentary that describes the issue of opiate abuse in a community in Vermont. Prescription drug abuse is an epidemic in the U.S. and we see our share of this problem as well. Take some time to view this important film.
