Under the supervision of the Psychologist/Clinical Supervisor of Psychological Services, the Support Counsellor (Psychology) operates as part of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible to provide appropriate psychological services to the clients of Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services who present with a mild to moderate degree of personal and psychological difficulties.
With general management supervision, independently applies learned skills and knowledge associated with the job family to complete diverse, moderately complex assignments within defined policy and according to objectives.
Conducts screening, assessments, and provides specific addiction treatment options including referrals to internal/external treatment programs. Develops treatment plans and addresses behavioural issues to achieve short and long term goals of the individual.
Decisions are based on significant analysis & interpretation within policy. Modifies methods, techniques & procedures to achieve results. Has full autonomy to deliver predefined accountabilities. Technical output is trusted as accurate & sound.
Under the supervision of the Manager/Clinical Supervisor of ALS, the Case Worker works with clients and families living with developmental delays and or mental health issues. General duties include intake services, assessments/reassessments, the development and maintenance of individual service plans, works with families and within an interdisciplinary team setting. With general management supervision, independently applies learned skills and knowledge associated with the job family to complete diverse, moderately complex assignments within defined policy and according to objectives. Under general supervision operates as part of a team to help individuals, couples, families, groups, communities and organizations develop the skills and resources they need to enhance social functioning and achieve optimum holistic health. Provide crisis counselling, therapy, education and referral to other social resources. May work closely with mental health specialists, clinicians, and/or school counsellors. May perform some of the following: interviewing, screening and assessment, evaluation and investigation. Provides counsel and therapy to resolve social and personal problems. May specialize in fields of practice, such as child welfare, family services (traditional and conventional), gerontology, disabilities, mental health and addictions. May be required to liaison with and interpret court directives. Works with clients to ensure adherence to specific court orders and may manage 3rd party financial administration. In respect of the overall mission, strategic directions, values and policies of Onkwata’karitáhtshera, this position is responsible for supporting and assisting community members to access healthcare and social services through Non- Insured Health Benefits and Jordan’s Principle coverage. The incumbent also contributes towards the identification of common needs and problems experienced by community members regarding access to services and towards the development of appropriate procedures and tools. Under the supervision of the Manager of Onkwata’karitahtshera Secretariat, independently applies learned skills, knowledge and practical experience to semi-routine tasks associated with the job family using established practices and standard procedures to complete assignments. Working with various community groups and members, develops program
proposals and budgets and provides updates to working groups. Develops capacity within the community to support the administrative activities of ongoing funding initiatives. Maintains access to and knowledge of various funding sources available to support community initiatives. Acts as representative or observer for Onkwata’karitáhtshera. Decisions are straightforward in nature, within clearly defined procedures and practices specific to the department or work
group and are regularly reviewed.
The surveyors have the mandate to plan and conduct interviews within the community of Kahnawake.
