We will be hosting a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) for Adults who Interact with Youth training for community members and those affiliated with our community
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved.
Mental Health First Aid for Adults who Interact with Youth (aged 12-24) discusses the following mental disorders:
- Substance use disorders
- Mood disorders
- Anxiety disorders
- Psychotic disorders
- Eating disorders
- Deliberate self-injury
The details are as follows:
- Date: Thursday, January 12 and Friday, January 13 (Two day training)
- Time: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM both days
- Place: KSCS Ohkwari Room
- Cost: Free for community members and affiliated workers. $40 for those not affiliated with the community
- Trainer: Christine Taylor
Space is limited. Please let me know if you are interested in taking this training. The 14-hour course is certified by Mental Health First Aid Canada and you will receive a certificate from the Commission.
