CORVID-19 VIRUS AND THE FAMILY AND WELLNESS CENTER

Kahnawake – March 25, 2020 - Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services (KSCS) wanting to be transparent is informing the community that a KSCS staff member tested positive for COVID-19 virus. The staff member was at the Family and Wellness Center so we made a decision to assess potential contamination.

The building was closed immediately after we received notification, all staff who were at the building at the same time as the staff member have been contacted by the health authorities and will follow protocols given to them by the health authorities.  We want to reassure the community that no one other than KSCS staff were allowed in the building since the staff person visited the building.

A specialized team from the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake is sanitizing the entire Family and Wellness Center to ensure it is safe to return to.  This team will be using hospital grade sanitizers and other specialized equipment to ensure the building is 100% free of the virus before anyone can return.

KSCS insists all KSCS staff members practice the same safety protocols Hospital workers, Peacekeepers and Ambulance workers follow to ensure safety for all.
