Kahnawake – December 04, 2020 - Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services feels it necessary to inform the community that we are experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak at Independent Living Center. Two staff members working at ILC have tested positive, although none of the residents are showing any symptoms and are all self-isolating.
It is considered an outbreak when two or more people working in one facility test positive. KSCS is working closely with public health to conduct contact tracing. In order to determine the scope of the outbreak at the centre, all residents, staff and visitors who entered the ILC within the past two weeks are going to be tested for the virus.
Staff at ILC will be required to re-take the Personal Protective Equipment and proper hygiene training to ensure the continued safety to all.
KSCS will keep the community updated in a timely manner and wish to remind everyone to continue proper hand washing, mask wearing and physical distancing as these are our best defence against the virus.
