EMERGENCY FOOD BANK CLOSURE
The Emergency Food Basket, a partnership between the Orville Standup Memorial Food Basket and Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takéhnhas Community Services (KSCS), has been offering services since March 2020 to families in need during the state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are now in a new phase of the pandemic.
The Emergency Food Basket has completed the KSCS phase out process and the transition has been made back to the volunteer-run, donations-based Orville Standup Memorial Food Basket. The Emergency Food Basket had a final delivery to community recipients on August 20, 2021 and is closed as of September 3, 2021.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this successful partnership over the past 18 months. We appreciate the efforts of the staff from Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takéhnhas Community Services (KSCS), Orville Standup Memorial Food Basket, Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK), Kahnawà:ke Medical Transport as well as community volunteers who helped ensure this important service was made available to Kahnawa’kehró:non. A special thanks goes out to Kateri School and the Knights of Columbus for accommodating the Emergency Food Basket throughout this time.
