EMERGENCY FOOD SERVICE HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Kahnawake- April 9, 2020- Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services (KSCS) wishes to inform the community of the holiday schedule for the Emergency Food Basket Service. Community members who receive the prepared meals delivery will not be affected by the Easter holiday.

The Emergency Food Basket team will be taking Good Friday and Easter Monday as holidays. The team have been working diligently to respond to community food needs and are deserving of this rest period. For this week the Food Basket team has also encountered supply and delivery issues with food distributors that are being worked out.
Fridays will continue to be the normal Emergency Food Basket delivery days. An effort is being made to maintain a standardized schedule with each household receiving food baskets every 2 weeks. However, this may vary until the supply chain has been solidified. We ask for your continued patience.

Due to supply and the upcoming Easter Holiday, households who received food baskets on March 27th can expect their next delivery on April 17th; and households who received food baskets on April 3rd will receive their next delivery on April 24th.

All new intakes received between April 3rd and April 9th will receive their first food basket today- Thursday, April 9th beginning at 2:00pm. Recipients on this list will be contacted by telephone to ensure they are home at the time of delivery. Delivery staff will be knocking/ringing the doorbell and will only leave the basket if someone is home. We are asking for recipients to please be home to accept your delivery. All unclaimed baskets will be returned to the depot to be redistributed on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
We wish to remind everyone that recipients are responsible to clean all groceries and food supplies.

The Emergency Food Basket and all Emergency Food Intake will resume their normal operations on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Niawenhko:wa to everyone for their continued patience and understanding.
