Environment Canada has issued a High Heat Warning for this weekend. The temperatures combined with humidity will give humidex values between 38 to 42 degrees.
Kahnawake Shakotiia'takehnhas Community Services has prepared the White House next to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake to receive elders wishing to fine relief from the heat.
The center will be available for elders from 10:00am – 5:00 pm until the heat wave breaks. Elders will be required to wear a mask and maintain the physical distancing measures. Masks will be provided if you do not have one.
Elders who are going to access the white house during the weekend are to call 514-554-1352 and a worker will screen for COVID symptoms and ensure staff at the White House know to expect you.
