KAHNAWAKE ENDING EMERGENCY HOT MEAL FOOD SERVICES

Kahnawake – July 8, 2020 - Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services is informing the community that we will be ending the delivery of Emergency Hot Meals on July 31, 2020. The KSCS Meals on Wheels service will not be affected, and clients will continue to receive their daily meals.

Community members who were receiving the Emergency Hot Meals and are still in need of food security after July 31, 2020 can register to receive the Emergency Food Baskets by calling KSCS at 450-632-6880 and ask to speak with an emergency food facilitator. The Emergency Food Basket will be moving out of Kateri School on July 15, 2020 to a location that not been finalized at the time of this press release. We will be making every effort to ensure there is no interruption to the delivery of emergency food baskets to community members registered to receive one.

KSCS will be conducting an evaluation of the KSCS Emergency Food Services and are hopeful the community will provide feedback through the survey that will be released soon. We would like to receive effective data regarding the state of food security during these troubling times and moving forward so we can make recommendations to community leadership.

Lastly, we wish to thank the community for their continued support including the Kateri School, Rail Coal Fire Bistro, Two 0 Seven Steak and Seafood, Mirela’s Restaurant, Kahnawake Medical Transport, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and all our community volunteers.
