ORGANIZATION REVIEW UPDATE

Kahnawake – August 6, 2019 - Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services is pleased to update the community on some of the outcomes that are being implemented as a result of an organizational review that was conducted in 2018.

The KSCS Board of Directors commissioned the review to obtain an objective perspective on the organization’s governance, structure, programs and services, policies and procedures, and internal operations.

The review was presented to the board of directors and management team as previously reported in our Annual Report 2018 – 2019. The follow-up will assist the organization to better meet the needs of Kahnawake; it provided 35 recommendations, listed below is a sample of the recommendations.  To access the complete list please visit: http://www.kscs.ca/sites/default/files/field/file-attachment/organizational%20review%20Summary%20of%20Recommendation-2019.pdf

Many of the recommendations are already being addressed and community members are already seeing some of the changes in action. An example is, changes to the organization’s structure have begun with the addition to two (2) new director positions: Director of Internal Operations and Director of Family Preservation Clinical Services which have been approved by the board.  Three (3) new manager positions: Manager of Information Services, Manager of Youth Wellness Services and Manager of Mental Health and Addictions are being considered. Changes in structure will occur throughout the organization to improve KSCS’s ability to respond to community needs.

While many of the recommendations have had movement, the community was directly involved in providing input to the Community Perception and Satisfaction Survey that was conducted this spring.  The results of this survey will be reported back to the community early September and will be used in the development of a new strategic communication plan for KSCS.

The Board of Directors are currently looking into developing transparent and open methods to  keep the community updated on the work it does.
