Cheryl Zacharie Hired As New Director of Family Preservation (Clinical) Services

Kahnawake – October 28, 2020

Kahnawa:ke Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services (KSCS) is pleased to announce that Cheryl Zacharie has been hired as the new Director of Family Preservation (Clinical) Services.

Cheryl brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having served as the Manager of Support Services at KSCS for more than three years. Prior to that, Cheryl’s previous positions were as Team Leader of the Family and Wellness Centre, Coordinator of Support Services, Case Worker, and Intake Worker since starting her career at KSCS in 1995. Her experience at KSCS throughout all aspects of Support Services made her the ideal choice for the Director of Family Preservation (Clinical) Services.

Cheryl earned her BA degree in Sociology, Criminology, Criminal Justice from Carleton University as well as a graduate diploma in Leadership from McGill University. She received her DEC in Social Sciences from Vanier College and has been a member of the Professional Order of Social Workers of Quebec since 2017. She has also attended many training sessions in the areas of youth protection, trauma, sexual abuse, addictions and mental health.

Outside of KSCS, Cheryl has been a Counsellor at Waseskun House in Montreal and an Addictions Counsellor at the Onen’to:kon Treatment Center at Kanehsata:ke and has recently been certified as a paramedic with the Kahnawake Fire Brigade.

She will be a key member of the senior management team as KSCS continues to evolve and develop its programs and services to better serve the community”, said Derek Montour, Executive Director.

Cheryl will begin her new position in February 2021 but will continue to fulfill her duties as Manager of Support Services until then.
