Server Responsibility Training

  • When: Monday, November 3rd – 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Ohkwari room at KSCS, 2nd floor at the Services Complex

This training is for anyone who is or would like to be employed at a Kahnawake establishment that sells or serves alcohol.

Training is free and includes:

  • Information on Alcohol
  • Strategies for responsible beverage service
  • Legal rights and responsibilities of establishments, customer and community
  • CERTIFICATE of completion (recommendation of ABC Board)

The Needs ABC Therapeutic Model for Couples and Families

Objectives:

  • How to improve client engagement and client self-disclosure
  • Understanding how relational needs, and the emotions they predict, impacts client functionality.

Presenter: Tom Caplan, M.S., M.A., M.S.W., P.S.W., I.C.A.D.C., A.A.M.F.T.

Tom Caplan is a social worker and a licensed psychotherapist in private practice who works with individuals, couples, families and groups. He is an Adjunct Professor at McGill University in the School of Social Work and director and supervisor of the McGill Domestic Violence Clinic. Tom is the Clinical Director of the Caplan Therapy Centre and is the founder and supervisor of the Montreal Anger Management Centre. Tom is a certified marriage and family therapist and a certified marriage and family therapy supervisor.

Connections for Caregivers of Children 0-6 Years of Age

A new group will be starting at the Family and Wellness Center (FWC) on May 7, 2014 and will run every Wednesdays from 9:30—11:30 for 8 weeks. The session will end on June 25, 2014.

The Connections for Caregivers of Children 0-6 years of age is an interactive group where caregivers can join in and learn new parenting techniques, build strong attachments to their children, and develop relationships with others who have the common goal—raising children!

Some of the themes that will be introduced are:

  • Giving your child the love of reading
  • Planting a family garden
  • Love spending time with your child through play

The sessions will take place at the Family and Wellness Center! We will have two outings during the session with the exact dates to be determined.

Helpful Info:

  • Dress comfortably
  • Bring a blanket and your child’s favorite toy
  • Crying babies are welcome!
